The 52nd Reading Scout Group was registered on 27th October 1925 and started meeting at St. Barnabas Church Hall just half a mile down the road from our current meeting place, the brand new, Reading Scout & Guide HQ in Northcourt Avenue.
52nd Reading Scouts are do-ers and give-it-a-go-ers. Yes, we go camping, hiking, swimming, abseiling, cycling and canoeing ... we are creative and do loads of crafty stuff ... we cook ... we sing around campfires as we toast marshmallows ... we take part in community activities ...
But we also get to hang out with our friends every week, having fun, playing games, working as a team and taking on new challenges. Every week, our 6 to 18 year old Scouts gain the skills and share experiences to help them live life to the full.
We have members from all over our local commuity and run term-time weekly sessions in three sections for boys and girls aged between 6 and 14 (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts), and for 14 to 18 year olds in our partners, the Rockhoppers Explorers Unit.
And it doesn't stop when you get to 18 ... we welcome volunteers of all ages to join our friendly Group and help more young people enjoy their Scouting life at the 52nd.
Join today so that you or your young person can discover their ‘thing’ ...
